Packaging tips for shipping an exhaust
These instructions explain how to package individual exhaust systems.
If you would like to ship a particularly large or bulky exhaust system with Cargoboard, we recommend booking courier transport. With this shipping method, the system is secured directly on the loading area. Nevertheless, it should be packaged in a way that prevents scratches or dents during transport. The advantage of courier transport is that the goods are not transshipped and remain on the same vehicle throughout the entire route. This significantly reduces the risk of damage in transit.
Below you will find packaging instructions for shipping conventional exhaust systems.
- Thoroughly clean the exhaust or exhaust system before packaging it, as dust and other particles could otherwise cause scratches or further damage.
- If the exhaust system consists of several parts, make sure that all of them are carefully wrapped, for example in bubble wrap.
- In particular, the part of the rear silencer that will be visible after installation should be wrapped in a cloth or similar material to prevent unsightly scuff marks.
- It is best to use a cuboid package made from 3-ply corrugated cardboard. Make sure the cardboard box is not too large to prevent the parts from shifting.
- Fill any empty spaces with cushioning material such as crumpled paper, polystyrene chips or wood wool.
- To make transport of the exhaust even safer, you can also mark the packaging with a “Fragile” or “Handle with care” notice. Specially printed tape is suitable for this.
