Encounter traffic is a form of main run and a common variant in freight forwarding. It involves two trucks meeting and swapping their loading units (semi-trailers or swap bodies).
They then continue in different directions. Most often, this exchange takes place at highway rest stops or on a customer’s property. Despite the high organizational effort, this variant is very popular among forwarders, as empty runs are avoided and the costs are reduced.
