This is a guide for packing individual bicycles.

If you want to ship a cargo bike with Cargoboard, we recommend booking a courier service. For this transport method, the cargo bike simply needs to be secured on the available loading area – nevertheless, it should be packed in a way that prevents scratches or similar damage during transport. Another benefit of courier shipping is that the cargo bike is not reloaded. It stays on the same vehicle for the entire journey, significantly reducing the risk of transport damage.

1. Prepare the bicycle
   Turn the handlebars sideways by loosening the bolts slightly. Remove the pedals and attach them to the frame in a tear-resistant bag. Pad sensitive parts such as the frame and fork to prevent transport damage.
2. Prepare packaging materials
   Use a sturdy bicycle box, available at specialist retailers or bike shops. You should also have padding material and adhesive tape on hand.
3. Securely pack the bicycle
   Place the bicycle in the box and fill any empty spaces with padding material. Seal the box completely and securely with tape.
4. Ensure pallet jack accessibility (if over 30 kg)
   If the package weighs more than 30 kg, it must either be placed on a pallet or be accessible by pallet jack to allow for proper loading.
5. Labeling and shipping
   Affix the shipping label in a clearly visible spot on each package. We also recommend attaching a pallet cone with the message “Do not stack” to support safe transportation.
